Workshop on the topic: "Coordinated institutional response for protection from violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia"
02.06.2026At the Resource Center for Gender Responsive Policymaking and Budgeting, the Crisis Management Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth and with the support of the UN Women office – Skopje, held a workshop on the topic: “Coordinated institutional response to protect against violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia”. The workshop was attended by representatives from state institutions and the civil society sector that have responsibilities in the field of coordination, communication and protection of women from violence. The focus was on the institutional and legal framework for preventing and protecting against violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia. Within the framework of the program, the Head of the Department for Prevention and Protection against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence at the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, Ms. Lidija Šterjov, held a presentation on the international and national legal framework for addressing violence against women and domestic violence, with special emphasis on the mechanisms for assistance, support and protection of victims, as well as the importance of multisectoral cooperation. The advisors and gender equality coordinators at the Crisis Management Center, Sevim Jakup and Eniser Nuredini, presented the Crisis Management System, the Center's competencies and the functioning of the Single Emergency Number 112 to the attendees. In addition, positive practices from the functioning of protection systems in other countries were presented. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen cooperation and coordination between relevant institutions in dealing with violence against women, as well as to improve the efficiency of the institutional response in cases of domestic and gender-based violence. Such activities contribute to improving institutional preparedness, timely response and providing effective protection and support for women victims of violence.
Fifth session of the Interdepartmental Consultative and Advisory Group on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men
20.05.2026On May 20, 2026, the fifth session of the Interdepartmental Consultative and Advisory Group on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men was held at the Resource Center for Gender Responsive Policies and Budgeting. During the session, a representative from the National Federation of Farmers presented the results of the research to resolve the status of registered female farmers in the area of maternity leave. The presentation opened a significant discussion on the need to improve legal and institutional solutions in order to provide greater social protection and equal opportunities for women in agriculture. Information about the initial meeting of the "50:50" initiative, aimed at promoting gender equality and encouraging equal participation of women and men in decision-making processes, was also presented at the session. The members exchanged opinions and proposals for further activities and measures that will contribute to more efficient implementation of equal opportunities policies and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation in this area.
Meeting of the Working Group for the Preparation of Standards for the Establishment of a Center for Daily and Temporary Reception of Victims of Human Trafficking
15.05.2026On May 15, 2026, at the Resource Center for Gender Responsive Policymaking and Budgeting, a meeting of the Working Group for the Preparation of Standards for the Establishment of a Center for Daily and Temporary Reception of Victims of Human Trafficking was held. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a citizens' association and experts. The meeting discussed the draft procedures and procedures for referral and placement, and also reviewed the principles for the treatment of victims of trafficking that will be part of the document.
Implementation of the revised Standard Operating Procedures for victims of human trafficking
28.04.2026A meeting dedicated to the "Implementation of the revised Standard Operating Procedures for Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings" organized on behalf of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, and supported by the European Union regional project, EU Support for Strengthening the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans (EU4FAST). The aim of this meeting is to provide support for the further implementation of the SOP for victims of trafficking in human beings, and to enable a review of the progress achieved in the implementation of the revised SOP in the previous period, as well as an exchange of experiences and opinions by stakeholders from relevant institutions involved in the multidisciplinary identification and referral of victims.
