At the Resource Center for Gender Responsive Policymaking and Budgeting, the Crisis Management Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth and with the support of the UN Women office – Skopje, held a workshop on the topic: “Coordinated institutional response to protect against violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia”.

The workshop was attended by representatives from state institutions and the civil society sector that have responsibilities in the field of coordination, communication and protection of women from violence.

The focus was on the institutional and legal framework for preventing and protecting against violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia. Within the framework of the program, the Head of the Department for Prevention and Protection against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence at the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, Ms. Lidija Šterjov, held a presentation on the international and national legal framework for addressing violence against women and domestic violence, with special emphasis on the mechanisms for assistance, support and protection of victims, as well as the importance of multisectoral cooperation.

The advisors and gender equality coordinators at the Crisis Management Center, Sevim Jakup and Eniser Nuredini, presented the Crisis Management System, the Center's competencies and the functioning of the Single Emergency Number 112 to the attendees. In addition, positive practices from the functioning of protection systems in other countries were presented.

The aim of the workshop was to strengthen cooperation and coordination between relevant institutions in dealing with violence against women, as well as to improve the efficiency of the institutional response in cases of domestic and gender-based violence.

Such activities contribute to improving institutional preparedness, timely response and providing effective protection and support for women victims of violence.
